That’s a completely fair question, and one I think many people have.

Yes, True Me Massage is a home-based clinic, but it has been thoughtfully designed as a dedicated therapeutic space that is separate from the everyday living areas of my home.

The entire basement is devoted to client care and wellness. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a private treatment space that includes:

  • A comfortable massage treatment room
  • A private infrared sauna (located within the treatment room)
  • A dedicated clinic office
  • A client washroom
  • A small sitting area where you can take a moment to relax before or after your appointment
  • A private gym used for movement and rehabilitation when appropriate

You won’t be walking through family living spaces or feeling like you’re “in someone’s house.” My goal is to provide the same professionalism, privacy, and comfort you would expect from a wellness clinic, while offering the warmth and calm that a home-based practice can provide.

When it’s time to begin, you’ll enter the clinic room, close the door for privacy, undress to your comfort level, and position yourself on the massage table under the linens. A small call button on the side of the table lets me know when you’re ready for your session to begin.

Many clients tell me that they appreciate the quieter, more personal atmosphere. My hope is that from the moment you arrive, you’ll feel welcomed, comfortable, and at ease.

Affirming massage means creating a space where people of all identities feel respected, safe, and supported in their bodies. It is grounded in consent, inclusive language, and an understanding that people’s experiences with their bodies are shaped by identity, health, stress, and life experiences.

For trans and gender-diverse individuals, massage can be especially supportive. Many people navigate unique physical and emotional experiences related to stress, body changes, posture, binding, voice use, and healthcare access. Thoughtful, respectful bodywork can help reduce tension, support nervous system regulation, and improve comfort and connection to the body.

Affirming care also means:

  • Using language and communication that respects identity and lived experience
  • Checking in about comfort, boundaries, and preferences
  • Understanding that each person’s relationship with their body is unique
  • Supporting wellbeing without assumptions or expectations

Massage does not replace gender-affirming medical care, but it can be an important complementary support for physical comfort, relaxation, stress regulation, and overall well-being when delivered in a respectful and inclusive way.

Your first visit begins with a relaxed conversation about how you’re feeling, what you’d like support with, and any preferences for your session. Together, we’ll shape a plan that reflects your needs that day. From there, your massage is paced and tailored to support comfort, relaxation, and restoration.

All sessions are Therapeutic & Restorative and tailored to what your body and nervous system need that day. Rather than following a rigid “type” of massage, your session blends techniques intentionally to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Your session may include a combination of:

  • Swedish massage techniques
  • Deep tissue approaches
  • Myofascial release
  • Trigger point release
  • Indian massage techniques
  • Fascial release approaches
  • Aromatherapy (when appropriate)
  • Reflexology
  • Somatic awareness and body-based techniques
  • Cupping
  • Hot stone work
  • Hydrotherapy

An optional infrared sauna can also be added before or after your massage to enhance relaxation and support the overall restorative experience.

You don’t need to decide in advance. We’ll begin with a conversation about how you’re feeling, what you’d like support with, and your goals for the session. I’ll share information about different techniques that may help support your wellness goals so you can decide what approaches feel right for you that day.

Many extended health benefit plans cover Registered Massage Therapy. Coverage varies, so it’s best to check with your provider.

Wear whatever feels comfortable. During your massage, you will be properly draped at all times, and only the area being treated will be uncovered.

Absolutely. True Me Massage is an inclusive, affirming space that welcomes people of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.

Payments are processed through Square and can be completed in person at the end of your session. I accept debit, credit card, or cash.

Receipts are provided following your appointment and can be used for insurance reimbursement if your plan includes massage therapy coverage.

Sauna time is booked online at the same time as your massage. When selecting your appointment, you’ll see options to add either a 20-minute pre-massage sauna or a 20-minute post-massage sauna.

Simply choose your massage timeframe and select the sauna option that fits your preference.

Infrared sauna can support relaxation, circulation, and overall recovery.

Using the sauna before your massage may help:

  • Warm muscles and soft tissue
  • Support relaxation
  • Prepare the body for treatment

Using it after your massage may help:

  • Extend relaxation
  • Support circulation
  • Provide quiet time to rest and integrate your session

Your session is all about your comfort. You will undress to the level that feels right for you. This may mean keeping some clothing on, remaining in your underwear, or removing clothing entirely. All options are completely acceptable. You will always be professionally draped, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered.

Let’s just put this question to rest! No, massage therapists do not think it’s weird. This is a normal part of practice, and everything is handled professionally and respectfully. Your body is always draped for privacy, and only the area being treated is uncovered. Some areas, such as the hips and gluteal muscles, can benefit from therapeutic massage when appropriate and with your clear consent.

Yes. Clients have access to a fully private bathroom, including a shower, if you’d like to rinse off or take some time to refresh after your session.

Appointments are scheduled with a 30-minute buffer between clients, so you have unhurried time to redress and take care of yourself following your massage. This can include using the shower, sitting quietly, or easing back into your day at your own pace.

As a client, you may be wondering, “Am I supposed to tip? If so…how much?” Don’t worry, let me make this easy.

At True Me Massage, I do not accept tips.

The greatest compliment you can give is to let me know that you enjoyed your treatment, that you’re feeling better, or that your care has made a positive difference. Your feedback, referrals, and returning for future treatments mean far more to me than a gratuity ever could.

I believe massage therapy is not a luxury, it’s an important part of your health and well-being. As a healthcare professional, I view massage therapy as part of your healthcare team.

After all, you don’t tip your doctor, your nurse, your physiotherapist, or your chiropractor. In the same way, I believe the value of your treatment should never be measured by a tip.

A sincere “thank you,” a smile, or hearing that you’re moving and feeling better is more than enough.
