Ask Me Anything!

That’s a completely fair question, and one I think many people have.

Yes, True Me Massage is a home-based clinic, but it has been thoughtfully designed as a dedicated therapeutic space that is separate from the everyday living areas of my home.  The entire basement is devoted to client care and wellness. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a private treatment space that includes:

  • A comfortable massage treatment room
  • A private infrared sauna (located within the treatment room)
  • A dedicated clinic office
  • A client washroom
  • A sitting area where you can take a moment to relax before or after your appointment
  • A private gym used for movement and rehabilitation when appropriate

My goal is to provide the same professionalism, privacy, and comfort you would expect from a wellness clinic, while offering the warmth and calm that a home-based practice can provide.

When it’s time to begin, you’ll enter the treatment room, close the door for privacy, undress to your comfort level, and position yourself on the massage table under the linens. A small call button on the side of the table lets me know when you’re ready for your session to begin. Many clients tell me that they appreciate the quieter, more personal atmosphere. My hope is that from the moment you arrive, you’ll feel welcomed, comfortable, and at ease.

Your first visit begins with a relaxed conversation about how you’re feeling, what you’d like support with, and any preferences for your session. Together, we’ll shape a plan that reflects your needs that day. If you haven’t completed the health and well-being history form I’ll ask that you complete it. From there, your massage is paced and tailored to support comfort, relaxation, recovery, and restoration.

You don’t need to decide in advance. We’ll begin with a conversation about how you’re feeling, what you’d like support with, and your goals for the session. I’ll share information about different techniques that may help support your wellness goals so you can decide what approaches feel right for you that day.

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is appreciated when cancelling or rescheduling so the time can be offered to someone else. You can cancel or reschedule through the website when more than 24 hours’ notice is available.

I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, please be respectful and let me know directly by phone, text, or email.

Sauna time is booked online at the same time as your massage. When selecting your appointment, you’ll see options to add either a 20-minute pre-massage sauna or a 20-minute post-massage sauna. Simply choose your massage timeframe and select the sauna option that fits your preference.

Infrared sauna can support relaxation, circulation, and overall recovery.

Using the sauna before your massage may help:

  • Warm muscles and soft tissue
  • Support relaxation
  • Prepare the body for treatment

Using it after your massage may help:

  • Extend relaxation
  • Support circulation
  • Provide quiet time to rest and integrate your session

As a client, you may be wondering, “Am I supposed to tip? If so…how much?” Don’t worry, let me make this easy.

At True Me Massage, I do not accept tips.

The greatest compliment you can give is to let me know that you enjoyed your treatment, that you’re feeling better, or that your care has made a positive difference. Your feedback, referrals, and returning for future treatments mean far more to me than a gratuity ever could.

I believe massage therapy is not a luxury, it’s an important part of your health and well-being. As a healthcare professional, I view massage therapy as part of your healthcare team.  After all, you don’t tip your doctor, your nurse, your physiotherapist, or your chiropractor. In the same way, I believe the value of your treatment should never be measured by a tip.

Every massage at True Me Massage is Therapeutic & Restorative, with each session thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs and goals. Rather than choosing from a menu of massage “types,” your treatment is personalized using a combination of evidence-informed techniques selected to best support your comfort, mobility, recovery, relaxation, and overall well-being.

Your session may include a blend of:

  • Swedish massage
  • Deep tissue techniques
  • Myofascial and fascial release
  • Manual lymphatic drainage
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Indian massage techniques
  • Reflexology
  • Somatic-informed bodywork
  • Kinetic massage
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Aromatherapy (when appropriate)
  • Hot stone therapy
  • Cupping

Unlike many clinics, hot stone therapy, aromatherapy, and cupping are included as part of your personalized treatment whenever they are appropriate to your goals. There is no additional charge for incorporating these techniques. Your fee is based solely on the length of your massage session, allowing your treatment to evolve naturally without worrying about add-on costs.

For those looking to extend their experience, you may also choose to add a 20-minute infrared sauna session before or after your massage for an additional fee. The gentle radiant heat helps promote relaxation, ease muscle tension, increase circulation, and enhance the overall restorative experience.

Many insurance plans cover Registered Massage Therapy services, but reimbursement is subject to your individual policy. Direct billing is currently being reviewed and is expected to be available in the future. This page will be updated as soon as direct billing has been established with participating insurance providers.

Your session is all about your comfort. You will undress to the level that feels right for you. This may mean keeping some clothing on, remaining in your underwear, or removing clothing entirely. All options are completely acceptable. You will always be professionally draped, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered.

Let’s just put this question to rest! No, massage therapists do not think it’s weird. This is a normal part of practice, and everything is handled professionally and respectfully.

Your body is always draped for privacy, and only the area being treated is uncovered. Some areas, such as the hips and gluteal muscles, can benefit from therapeutic massage when appropriate and with your clear consent.

Yes. Clients have access to a fully private bathroom, including a shower, if you’d like to rinse off or take some time to refresh after your session.

Appointments are scheduled with a 30-minute buffer between clients, so you have unhurried time to redress and take care of yourself following your massage treatment. This can include using the shower, sitting quietly, or easing back into your day at your own pace.
